Tagged!

Marta tagged me... sigh, I was wistful about never getting tagged for this kind of thing, and now it's happened the day before leaving on vacation! LOL so I will do this, and not tag anyone else. I think everyone else has already done it!

"The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer."

1) What was I doing 10 years ago?

This is hard for someone who doesn't remember stuff like what I had for lunch yesterday! In 1998, I was still living in Moreno Valley, commuting 40 miles to Claremont every day. The gas prices had just spiked above $1.35 a gallon (gasp!!), if I remember the timeframe correctly. The ex had lost his job and quit paying child support, and my reserves were getting very low. The Roketman and I had declared our love, and the time was right for him to move in with us. My daughter Becky had just moved out, and my son David was a senior in high school.

2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today?
Wow, only 5? We leave for a two week vacation tomorrow! I'll just say PACK!!! and leave it at that. Suffice it to say that we're each taking a rolling duffle and a rolling suitcase. The clothes are going to fit in the suitcase, and the toys in the duffle. What does it say about us that the toys take more room? For me, it's the SpinTech, the cotton, and the knitting. For Mike, it's the electronics.

3) Snacks I enjoy
hmmm. I've been able to train myself away from sweets, so now I try to stick with cheese (small individually-portioned packages) and Trader Joe's "Just a Handful of Nuts" packages. If it's the weekend, I'll make myself some flavored tea, like Tazo Chai, or Celestial Seasoning's Honey Lemon Ginseng. (note- the Tazo link is bandwidth-heavy. What can I say, I'm not above linking heavily in hopes of freebies!)

4) Things I would do if I was a billionaire
My answer is pretty much the same as when we played this game on Sheep Thrills-- I'd build a Thriller mansion, a commune for fiber people. Complete with cabana boys. (my own personal cabana boy would be the Roketman, of course...)

I'd finance the Roketman's Portager - the boat he wants to have built and retire to. The idea is to build it to fit on a trailer, and transport it (that's where "portage" comes from) across country instead of having to go through the Panama canal.

5) Places I have lived
Lived? Hays, Kansas and Southern California. Two places that are as different as night and day, without being good vs. bad.

6) Jobs I have had
I was a waitress for part of one summer. And babysat before that. Otherwise, all my jobs have centered around libraries. (here comes the CRS - Can't Remember Stuff - again... if I've had another kind of job, it was so long ago I don't remember!)

7) Five people I want to know more about
bwaahaha... I'll refer back to question 4 and say I'd take them on a fiber trip with Traditions Mexico instead of tagging them!

That's all for now... the next post will be from a BOAT! With his security clearance, the Roketman can't take his laptop out of country, so we're fitting my laptop with all sorts of new technology. Like the dialup card that slips into the slot on the side (I'm not the one with the expertise, much less knowledge of what to call it). And it'll have GPS, and navigation charts, and weather satellite links... and Heaven help me if it fails! I'll have a very grumpy Roketman to deal with.

Have fun on your big boating adventure! I'll be thinking of you as I sip my hot chocolate : )
