Stress Coping Mechanisms

I'm gonna start listing my stress coping mechanisms. Y'all are free to smack me with one whenever I start whining.

First up:

SING! Sing loud, in the shower or not. If you sing like I do, do it when only the cats are around. Sing! And then laugh hysterically when the cats get up and leave the room.

Singing loud--and often driving cats out of the room--has always worked for me, too.

In addition to creating endorphins, singing also does something else. Go look up "sacculus", an organ in the inner ear. Very cool.

Whacking the heck out of the weeds in the garden paths works for me -- but not when it's nearly 100 degrees out. I hate exercise, but have to admit that there IS something about vigorous physical exertion that helps get my mind unstuck from whatever is worrying me, at least for a little while.
