What I did this weekend

(disclaimer - this is a sinus-impaired posting, rated 5 Kleenexes. So far. The morning ain't over yet.)

This was a 3-day weekend, in honor of Cesar Chavez, a famous (in California, at least) labor leader for immigrant workers.

One of my projects was to spin up some Recycled Blue Jeans yarn. I bought out all Janel's roving, about 8 pounds... Laugh if you will, this stuff goes like hot cakes at Village Venture.

I managed to spin up 4 skeins of 2 ounces each - those are the ones on the TP cardboard cores. Plus, I plied that black skein of wool, about 8 ounces. The skeins that are finished are ones done prior to this weekend... displayed for inspiration.

Right now, I'm watching an episode of Uncommon Threads on the DYI channel, where they're showing how to crochet a "cute" (cough) dress out of acrylic. Take a memo: If no one is *wearing* crochet, not even a scarf, and especially not the outfit they're demo-ing, that says a lot about whether you want to do this. Do I usually watch tv at this time of the morning? No... I'm too brain dead from allergies and allergy medicine to go to work.

News flash -- correction to the previous paragrah. One of the demo ladies IS wearing crochet. And it doesn't look half bad. But it's not the dress she's demo-ing.

Turns out they all modeled the outfit at the end of the show... 2 out of 3 weren't bad, but !! oh my, the "ample" lady should have had a visit from the Clue Fairy.
